Some Good Things:
I just read Stuart Ross' book Confessions of a Small Press Racketeer (ECW Press, 2005). I mostly read poetry (almost exclusively lately) but I am glad I took a break and stayed up all night reading. It is funny, sad, viscous and very pretty to look at, just like a great girl.
I just did an interview with my pal Meaghan Strimas for the wonderful Laurie Fuhr at Filling Station, due out soon-ish. Miss Meaghan is reading tonight at the Dora Keogh on the Danforth at the Launch of the Gwendolyn MacEwen Selected she edited for Exile Editions.
Hotel Torgo, the small like a grenade in your fist film will be airing on Movieola soon, I'll update this.
I will soon be reading my own copy of Hannus by Rachel Lebowitz (Pedlar Press).
I did a book trade with Ray Hsu recently and, besides being a very nice guy, I can say Ray is also a very good poet. I'm looking forward to his next book.
Re-watching Saxondale last week, Coogan is just so brilliant. And re-watching La Belle et la Bete by Jean Cocteau every f*$@ing day as it is my kid's favourite movie; it is pretty brilliant as well.
Obviously there's lots of bad stuff too, like yuppie parents in the Manulife Centre, etc, etc. but this isn't a things I hate post is it?
