Hotter than July

(New) Stuff I am reading:

Dead Cars in Managua (DC Books, Punchy Imprint, 2008) again for an interview with Stuart Ross which is sure to be interesting--more to come--I'll post a link!

Michael Lista, a couple of impressive poems Ken Babstock chose for the Scream Alumni chapbook. Babstock did a really compelling introduction to the work, the poetry itself is really brilliant and challenging. Makes me want to know more (anything)about nuclear fission. Read Schopenhauer for similar feelings.

Shane Neilson's Exterminate My Heart (Frog Hollow Press, 2008). Talking to people the other night about this—definitely poetry of the heart and the gut but also very cerebral and umm… complex. I'm taking my time.

Gabe Foreman—I saw Kevin Connolly’s wonderful reading of Foreman’s work the other night as well. Connolly had some fine advice: Never grow old. His reading of Foreman’s poetry (and the poetry itself) made me laugh a lot.

Jonathan Bennett's Entitlement (ECW, 2008), just starting it--interview to follow. Took me forever to get to this with moving...

Other stuff:

Met Emily Shultz and Brian Joseph Davis (actually I met BJD at our doctor's office in a bizarre writer to writer real life run in) and have since been reading short stories at The Scream Archive and Joyland: A Hub for Short Fiction.
